MEGA Training offers you the chance to take required training courses like Scoutmaster Leader-Specific Training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), or Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO). There are also optional courses, including Chaplain Training, Swimming and Water Rescue, Paddle Craft Safety, and more.
NRA Shotgun Instructor Course May 10
This course is for training and certification of NRA Shotgun Instructors. It includes the NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting and the NRA Shotgun Instructor Training. All participants must have experience at shooting shotguns. More info and registration here.

IOLS Training May 17 to 18
Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics (online), this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops to be considered “trained”. More information and registration here.
BALOO Training May 17 to 18
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Training is for all Cub Scout Leaders and parents. This training course covers the skills and resources needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping. Completion of this training is required before a pack can go on a campout. More information and registration here.
Wilderness First Aid Training May 17 to 18
BSA Wilderness First Aid Basics is for back country camping where professional emergency care is more than 1 hour away. This course combines classroom lecture, skills practice, and realistic scenarios to teach assessment, basic and advanced first aid skills and decision making, extended care and transport. A current CPR/AED card along with the BSA-WFA is requested for all High Adventure Bases including Philmonth, Sea Base, Northern Tier, and Summit. More info and registration here.
USAA Archery Level 1 Training May 18
The course is aimed at leaders (18 and older) who want to teach the Archery Merit Badge, supervise a range at camp or Cub day camp, or run a quality archery program for Troops or Crews. The course is being sponsored by the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Students who complete the course and pass a written test and practical exam will receive the Level I Archery Instructor certification which is valid for three years and may be renewed.
