District Awards Dinner, Friday, January 27th
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 01 December 2011 00:00

The annual Thunderbird District Awards Dinner will be held Friday, January 27, 2012, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church (across from ACC Pinnacle). Chef Marty Shaver and his kitchen staff will be cooking and serving a lasagna dinner and dessert. The dinner starts at 6:30pm, doors open at 6:00pm. At $7 for adults, $5 for youth and free for children 3 and under, it's a bargain.

Note that this year's dinner is on a Friday night, a little later than we usually start, and at a different venue.

Please register in advance so we can get a head count. You can download the registration form here.

Packs/Troops/Teams/Crews: please bring your unit flag and an American flag for opening ceremonies. Awards will be given to all participating units. Please indicate if 2011 Eagle Scouts or Arrow of Light recipients will be attending.

Did your unit do a cool and exciting activity in 2011? Then bring your photos, souvenirs and mementos to display at your table!

The District Award of Merit is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, out Scouting, or both. Consideration must be given to the nominee's Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting position.

Spring 2012 Wood Badge Registration Open
Written by Henry Rohlfs
Wednesday, 28 September 2011 12:31

Registration is now open for the Spring 2012 Wood Badge course to be held March 1-3 and March 29-31, 2012. The course director is Thunderbird District's own Bob Bollish, a long time Scouter and very experienced Wood Badge staffer.

Click here for more information or to register for the course.

Wood Badge is a comprehensive training course started by Robert S. Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts, to help leaders hone their skills, extend their understanding of the youth they lead and the adults they work with, and to go to new levels of personal growth and learning as Scouters. It is the premier personal, professional, and Scouting growth training program offered by the Scouting movement.
