The Thunderbird District is hosting a fun-filled day of Scoutcraft skills and Scouting activities at Wessendorf Ranch ‘The Narrows’ near Blanco! The one-day event from opening flags to early evening campfire, is an opportunity to get outside and catch up on rank requirements. Hiking, Orienteering, Tomahawks, Wood Yard, Gear Swap, Cook-Off competition and more! Learn and demonstrate Scoutcraft skills for ranks Scout through First Class. Higher ranks, use the EDGE method to teach or just brush-up on skills.
Registration: All youth and adults register here through Double Knot by May 6. Fee is $12 per person which includes a small contribution to Friends of Scouting. Individual Scouts are welcome!
Troop Station Sign-up: Troops, please sign up here to host a rank station and/or activity station. Plan to bring all gear necessary for your station, lunch, and a campfire cook-off dinner. Pop-up tents welcome! Set a rotation schedule for scouts to teach rank requirements and oversee the activities in shifts so they have time to participate in other stations. Troops bring medical forms for participants.
What to Bring:
- A mask that covers nose and mouth
- Completed COVID Screening Form
- Signed COVID-19 Risk Acknowledgement Form for each attendee
- BSA Medical Forms Parts A and B
- Food for lunch and plenty of water
- Camp chair
- Gently used gear to sell or swap
- Spare change to ‘vote’ for your favorite campfire meal – donations go to Friends of Scouting

9:00am Opening flag ceremony
9:15am – 11:30am Stations rotations
10:00am – 11:30am Orienteering and 5-mile hike
11:30am Lunch (Troops and individuals bring your own)
12:30pm – 4:00pm Station rotations
1:00pm – 2:30pm Orienteering and 5-mile hike
4:00pm Meal prep and station tear down
5:00pm Campfire and cook-off
6:00pm Closing flag ceremony
