Individual and Unit Renewal Changes

Important Updates for 2026-2027All units, Scouts, and Scouters must renew annually. Scouting America offers an online member and unit renewal process. 
Currently, unit and member renewals are the same as last year and remain separate. Renewal prices will increase in 2027, so ensure all members renew by December 31st.
Membership & Unit Charter Fees – Effective January 1, 2027:
Youth – $8/mo ($96/yr) (Scouts BSA, Cub Scouts, Venturing)
Exploring Youth – $5/mo ($60/yr)
ScoutReach Youth – $3/mo ($36/yr)
Adults – $6/mo ($72/yr) – All Programs
Unit Charter Fee – $10/mo ($120/yr) – All Programs
There will no longer be a lapse period. Members and units that are not renewed by December 31, 2026, will be dropped immediately.
What happens when the renewal deadline is missed?Advancement and awards: Scouts may experience delays or restrictions in recording advancement, earning awards, and completing rank requirements in the official system.Camps and events: Registration problems may prevent Scouts or leaders from registering for certain council or national activities.Online access to Scouting tools is lost (e.g., Scoutbook, my.scouting, beascout, advancement and membership records)Insurance coverage: A unit that isn’t renewed loses the protection associated with its active Scouting registration. This can create significant concerns for unit activities and potential liability.
This will be the last renewal season in which unit renewal and member renewal will be separate, as Scouting America will transition to a common renewal date in 2027.
