Troop 20 plans monthly campouts! We use the patrol method, and in patrols the Scouts hang out and cook and do activities together. Its a lot of fun. We go camping once a month, and recently went on a beach campout. Our SPL uses the Remind App to send out notifications about events, activities, and supplies. We are encouraging and kind. We support each other in focusing on advancement, yet we consider the fun to be the most important aspect of scouting.

We are a boy-led troop of about 50 scouts who love getting together to learn, go camping, do service projects, play games and have a good time! We meet at Austin Ridge Bible Church SW, 7416 W, 7416 State Hwy 71, Austin, TX 78735, on most Sundays at 4pm. Many of our scouts attend Small, Gorzycki, Kealing, Austin High, Bowie and LASA.
We typically camp one weekend a month during the school year. We also go on high adventure. A favorite memory of high adventure was catching a Walleye, and another Scout is impressed how he lost a lure when a pike snapped his line.

Troop 256
Bannockburn Baptist Church
In our troop we accepting and not very serious (though they can be if we need to be). We get along together in a positive atmosphere. Our challenges have taught us to not have conflict. At Philmont we were getting tired and angry, but in our troop we didn’t start bickering. We worked harder, we set up faster, we kept encouraging each other. We grew stronger together. We are a leadership-focused troop wanting to develop the best scouts and leaders that we can. The Scouts planned a weeklong trip to Philmont. We decided what we wanted to do, how to get there, and where to camp rather than the adults deciding us for us. The adults only napped and used half the water to make coffee.

Troop 395
Shepherd Of The Hills Presbyterian Church
Our troop is Scout-led. The Scouts determine the meetings and develop the theme each campout. We do cooking competitions, backpacking trips, rock climbing, shooting campouts, and play games. When we camp the adults must stay in “Adultlandia,” and only the SPL may cross into that land to ask a question. The Scouts learn to help each other and to problem solve together. We focus on skills and we play games that are skill-focused. Advancements are self-paced, troop-encouraged, and the older Scouts ensure the youner Scouts get their books signed.
The Troop 395 Scout Experience is about having fun while developing skills that lay foundations for a lifetime of success. Sometimes things may seem a bit chaotic — it’s part of the boy-led learning experience. We believe boys learn best by doing & make every effort to allow them the freedom to succeed & fail as a unit.
Troop 395 was first established in 1972.
