Camporee Rescheduled

Good Afternoon Thunderbird District Leaders,

After several discussions with leaders from the district, units, and council and careful review of the weather forecast for this weekend, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule this weekend’s District Camporee.

This decision was not made lightly. The safety of our Scouts, families, and leaders must always come first. With storms and lightning expected, along with a forecast showing severe weather for more than 75% of the weekend and NO permanent shelter at Wessendorf, we feel that exercising extreme caution is the right choice. Additionally, because our Camporee is heavily activity-focused rather than a standard campout, we want Scouts to be able to experience the event fully and safely.

We are not canceling Camporee for the year—we are simply moving it to a new date and location.

📅 New Dates: September 25–27
📍 Location: Lost Pines

This presents a great opportunity. Many districts have had to evacuate or cancel events entirely, and this allows us to regroup, enhance the program with a stronger budget, and potentially include even more Scouts for an even better experience.

More information regarding refunds and next steps will be shared soon.

In the meantime, please stay safe this weekend as the storms moves through the area, and we ask that you pass this message along to parents, especially if your troop was registered to attend.
