SUMMARY:Trash the Trash Day
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 4\, you and your friends can join Scouts around the world to help clean up our planet! We’ve organized two cleanups: one at Zilker Park and the other at Alamo Pocket Park. Or\, you can organize your own group trash pick up by choosing a location\, inviting friends and fellow Scouts and showing up with trash bags\, gloves\, and trash grabbers! Either way\, each Scout is encouraged to bring a friend or family member and everyone is encouraged to pick up 2.2 pounds of trash. \nIf every Scout around the world collected at least 2.2 pounds of trash\, we could remove 60 million pounds of trash from the world’s ecosystems. That’s the same weight as a medium sized ship or one of the new high rises in Austin! \nFor even more information\, visit the International Scouting Committee page on our website.

SUMMARY:Help Recognize Our Eagle Scouts
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 16\, our council will recognize 361 Central Texas Scouts who this past year joined you and me in the brotherhood of Eagle Scouts. This special event will take place at our Frank Fickett Scout Training and Service Center\, 12500 N IH 35\, with a separate morning and afternoon session. \nWe need help from you and other fellow Eagle alums in making this day a successful and memorable one for our 2023 Eagles and their families. There are a few simple\, day-of volunteer jobs that help make the ceremonies happen: \n\nFront door greeter\nUsher\nRefreshment server (cake and punch)\n\nEach of these requires only 2-3 hours of your time on the day of the event\, either from 9am-11:30am or 1pm-3pm. If you still have a Scout uniform\, please wear it! Otherwise\, business casual dress (it’d be great to wear your Eagle medal) works just fine. If you have a more flexible schedule\, you could help set up the room for the ceremonies (tentatively on Friday\, March 15) or clean up after (starting at 3pm that Saturday). \nPlease give a few hours to help us properly recognize these young people Simply visit the volunteer sign up page on our website at www.bsacac.org/eagle-reception-volunteer.
