TechLab is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) day camp developed by the Capitol Area Council and produced in partnership with Girl Scouts and Austin ISD. The camp takes place at Anderson High School and utilizes their new Science classrooms and the brand new Applied Technology Center. Campers are boys and girls, scouts and non-scouts. They get to experience hands on technology like 3D printers, robots, computer aided design, and DSLR cameras while earning STEM related Cub Scout Adventures or Boy Scout Merit Badges.
A bus service is offered from select elementary schools each week, and there are scholarships available for students in need. Camp runs from 9-3:30 each day, with extended care hours from 8-5:30 as a service to working parents. There are four, one-week sessions of the camp, during the weeks of June 13, 20, 27 and July 11. With four different weeks to choose from, scouts don’t have to choose between TechLab and Cub Scout Day Camp or NYLT or other scout activities – they can do both!
