Dear Thunderbird District Scouters,
If you were not at our District Roundtable March 4th, here is what you missed!
We had a special Flag Ceremony conducted by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. They were there to help out with the Blood Drive by escorting donors back and forth between the meeting and the donation bus. They also made sure that donors had plenty of juice and cookies to build up their energy afterwards. This was most appreciated!
Thunderbird District held this drive in the parking lot of Manchaca United Methodist Church to help the Capitol Area Council toward the Centennial goal of 100 cumulative gallons of blood. I understand that there was an excellent turnout of donors to the tune of around 21 to 22 pints!
Look for the Blood Center of Central Texas bus to return in another 3 or 4 months. We will keep you posted.
John Knox presented the program on Flag Etiquette and Protocol. He talked about and demonstrated proper folding, presentation and retiring "Old Glory" and also the Texas Flag. Mr. Knox was key in getting the proper folding and unfolding of the Texas Flag enacted by the Texas State Legislature.
Did you know that an American Flag should always be able to fly free? This indicates our freedom and should always be observed. He also told us about the different fabrics out of which flags are made and when and where each kind should be used. There was so much more and all of it very interesting and informative.
The speaker for the April 1st Roundtable is Rosina from the Natural Gardener.
Remember, All Scouters, parents and adults are welcome. We have babysitting available for a nominal fee, so please spread the word.
Roundtable is so much, and anything but a dull meeting. Come one, come all!
Meeting at Manchaca Untied Methodist Church
